72% of the Nation's AIDS Service Organizations Have Cut or Restricted Services in the Past 5 Years.Yes, times are tough. And yes, we need your support! Living on less than $800 per month, as more than half of our HIV-positive clients do, stretching the dollar often means going without basic needs such as adequate nutrition or safe housing. The current economic crisis also comes at a time when infections are rising. Iowa has experienced a record number of new infections - higher than any single year since reporting began in 1998.
Despite a growing necessity, however, AIDS services are diminishing throughout the U.S. According to a 2007 study conducted by AIDS Task Force of Greater Cleveland, "72% of the nation's AIDS service organizations cut or restricted services in the past 5 years." The staff and board of directors at APCI are committed to fulfilling our agency mission regardless of the current economic conditions. But your help is vital in providing support for people living with HIV and to ensure far fewer new HIV infections!
